Au-delà de la course que se livreront The Grand Budapest Hotel et Birdman, voici ce qui retient l'attention à la 87e cérémonie des Oscars.
1) Le cinéma indépendant a la cote
Le cinéma indépendant américain est plus que jamais présent aux Oscars. Un phénomène qui réjouit certes les cinéphiles, mais qui signifie que la grande majorité des Américains n'a pas vu les principaux films en nomination. À titre d'exemple, Birdman a récolté 36 millions de dollars aux guichets, loin derrière Interstellar, avec près de 200 millions de dollars.
2) Et de 19 pour Meryl Streep
Meryl Streep consolide sa première position au chapitre des nominations chez les actrices avec un total de 19. Elle tentera de remporter une quatrième statuette pour son rôle dans Into the woods, après avoir été récompensée pour son travail dans The iron lady (2012), Sophie's choice (1983) et Kramer vs. Kramer (1980).
3) Une première pour plusieurs
Près de la moitié des acteurs et des actrices nommés en seront à leur première expérience des Oscars : Steve Carell, Benedict Cumberbatch, Michael Keaton, Eddie Redmayne, J.K. Simmons, Felicity Jones, Rosamund Pike, Patricia Arquette et Emma Stone.
4) Un tour du chapeau pour Bradley Cooper
Pour son rôle dans American Sniper, l'acteur américain Bradley Cooper obtient cette année une troisième nomination consécutive. Il avait été considéré pour American Hustle en 2014 et pour Silver linings playbook l'année précédente, mais il était chaque fois reparti bredouille.
5) Un nouvel animateur
L'acteur et animateur Neil Patrick Harris en sera à sa première animation des Oscars. Il succède à Ellen DeGeneres, qui a été à la barre de la cérémonie en 2013 et en 2014. Harris a animé la remise des prix Emmy à deux reprises.
